Young Innovators Revolutionising Farming in Kibingor

Young Innovators Revolutionising Farming in Kibingor

In Kibingor, Baringo County, young, gifted students trained in coding and robotics are transforming agriculture through innovation. They have developed an Agribot, a robotic car equipped with ultrasonic and infrared sensors that detect plant positions and apply fertiliser precisely where it is needed. This targeted approach boosts crop growth while minimising waste, reducing costs for farmers, and promoting environmentally responsible farming practices.

Impact on Farmers

By automating the labour-intensive task of fertiliser application, the Kibingor Agribot increases efficiency and allows farmers to focus on other critical aspects of production. The impact of this innovation can be seen in several key areas:

  • Increased crop productivity through precise fertiliser application

  • Reduced fertiliser waste and lower input costs

  • Time savings by automating manual processes

  • Promotion of sustainable farming practices

  • Empowerment of local youth with practical technology skills

Community Support and Youth Empowerment

Beyond its agricultural benefits, the project reflects the power of youth empowerment through technology. The students are applying hands-on skills in programming, sensor integration, and engineering design to solve real community challenges. With the support of Compassion International Kenya, this initiative is proving that innovation from marginalised communities can drive a greener, smarter future for Kibingor and beyond.
